Cafe style shutters are a great option if you want privacy without shutting out all the natural light. Because they cover only the lower part of the window, they’re especially popular in front rooms, dining spaces and street-facing homes where you want to feel less overlooked but still keep the room bright. At Jacksons Blinds, we supply and fit cafe style shutters in Newcastle and the surrounding areas, all made to measure for a clean, well-balanced finish.
Jacksons Blinds offers a variety of types, styles and colours for shutters –
We fit cafe style shutters in homes across Newcastle, from traditional terraces and period properties to newer homes where privacy is still a concern. They work particularly well on ground floor windows, especially in areas where houses sit close to the pavement or directly face neighbouring properties. You get screening where you need it most, without losing daylight through the top half of the window.
The main reason people choose cafe shutters is balance. They give you privacy at eye level while still letting in plenty of light above. That makes them ideal for front rooms, kitchens and dining areas that can feel a bit exposed with bare windows, but too dark with full coverage. They also suit certain properties really well, especially homes with taller windows or more traditional room proportions.
Every set we fit is made to measure. That matters with half height shutters because the proportions need to look right. The height of the panels, the layout of the window and the position of the rails all affect the final result. Done properly, cafe style plantation shutters should look neat, practical and in keeping with the room rather than like a compromise.
If you’re not sure whether cafe style shutters are right for your window, we’re happy to help. We can visit, measure up, show you samples and explain what would work best for the room and the property.
Our service covers everything from the initial visit through to final fitting. We come out to your home, assess the windows properly and advise on the best style, finish and panel height for the room. Some customers want a more traditional look that suits an older property. Others simply want an uncluttered alternative to curtains or blinds that still gives privacy where it counts.
Cafe style window shutters in Newcastle are often chosen for ground floor bay windows, front rooms and dining spaces where the window is an important part of the room. Because they only cover the lower section, they help keep the room feeling open and bright. That’s often the biggest appeal. You’re not choosing between light or privacy — you can have both.
We’re a local company, and we know the mix of homes across Newcastle and nearby areas. In places like Heaton, Jesmond and parts of Gateshead, you’ll often find front rooms and bay windows that suit cafe shutters really well. Around Blaydon, Gosforth and surrounding neighbourhoods, there’s a similar mix of homes where privacy matters but people still want the room to feel bright.
Customers usually choose us because they want straightforward advice and a tidy, well-measured finish. Cafe shutters need to be proportioned properly to look right. We take the time to measure carefully, talk through the options clearly and make sure the final result fits the window and the room.
